For my birthday, I got a new bike!
As soon as I feel better I will getting on it, especially after a recent review of a Raleigh (that review is to come later this week).
Well, the guys over at Aldi sent me a birthday package to tie in with the launch of their new cycling range due out on 21 May – both in store and online.
The thing about cycling is that the sheer range of gear available is huge and it is big business.
Padded shorts, lotions and potions, extra tyres for the winter, bags, back packs and lights, it is never-ending.
All of this can add up and quite often you are bombarded with information and simply do not know where to start.
The reason I love this range is because it looks, and feels, great but it comes in at a different budget and offers everything you need to get started in cycling or add to the gear you already have.
So, let’s have a look at what is on offer:
|MEN’S/LADIES CYCLING SHORTS||£7.99|
|MEN’S/LADIES CYCLING JERSEY||37.99|
|PREMIUM FLOOR PUMP||£14.99|
|ERGONOMIC CYCLING SOCKS||£2.99|
|RECHARGEABLE BIKE LIGHT||£9.99|
|SPORTS & CYCLING GLASSES||£1.99|
|ADULT/CHILD’S BIKE HELMET||£9.99|
|MEN’S/LADIES SOFTSHELL CYCLING JACKET||£16.99|
|MEN’S/LADIES CASUAL CYCLING SHORTS||£12.99|
|BIKE AND SPORTS RUCKSACK||£15.99|
|MEN’S/LADIES ALL WEATHER CYCLING JACKET||£19.99|
|CO2 INFLATOR AND SPARE CARTRIDGES||£3.99|
|MEN’S/LADIES CYCLING BIB SHORTS||£12.99|
|MEN’S/LADIES CYCLING BASE LAYER TOP/UNDER SHORTS||£4.99|
|MEN’S/LADIES CASUAL CYCLING TOP/VEST||£4.99|
Not bad at all!
What I really liked from the samples I was sent, were the ladies cycling jersey and jacket.
I have got some super expensive cycling clothes and I have to say that the Aldi clothing comes close in terms of colour, texture, weight and also washability – I have put it through twice just to see how it goes.
The black and pink are striking and come with a reflective stripe which will be helpful on evening cycles, and the geometric design is on trend and far from what one what imagine a supermarket sports brand to look like.
The material is actually quite thick so these items will take you from spring to autumn and with handy pockets you have room for gloves and a hat from when the sun decides not to come up.
I also had a pair of rechargeable lights that my son snapped up, so we are going to put those to the test in half term when we head up to the forest and go off-road.
As I said, the range is out on 21 May but if you aren’t interested, I would get in their sooner rather than later as I have a feeling these cycling beauties will be gone before I back to full health.
For more details head over to Aldi and see what other offers they have coming up.
Oh, and don’t forget when you do go out on your bike, always wear a helmet!
